In Congo central eleven inmates escaped on saturday ,May 24,2025 from prison attached to the Sekabanza court the source indicated that ,the fugitives took advantage of the dilapidated condition of the prison and the lack of sufficient police to ensure their supervision.
According to the same source ,the escape took place around 8:00 Am ,these escape after forcing the metal door of the detention cell down on the police officer responsible for their supervision.
The incident occured as the latter was attempting to remove the weakest inmate to take him to the weekly market in Kinzau Mvuete,held every Saturday to collect money for the prisoners’ food rations.
The population claims that several of the eleven escappees were being prosecuted for rape and were awaiting transfer to Tshela prison ,where to serve their sentences.
The administrator of the Sekabanza territory also called on the autorities to build a decent prison in this territory ,he pointed out theat inmates transfered to Tshela are deprived of family visits due to the distance and suffer from malnutrition.
