RDC-Burundi:Close alliance between president Tshisekedi Felix and president Ndayishimiye are driver of instability in great lakes region.
Frequent high level meetings back to back visits ,and constant coordinition between the two leaders suggests more than diplomatic engagement ,it points to a deliberate political and military strategy .
Evidedence on the ground reveals that this alliance is not benign, the collaboration has translated into coordinated military operations in South Kivu ,where the Congolese army Fardc ,alongside Burundian forces and the FDLR ,group widely condemned for its roots in the 1994 genocide against Tutsis is implicated in systematic violence.
These joint offensive have particularly targeted the Banyamulenge community, a Congolese Tutsis group long scapegoated in regional ethnic tensions, such operations carry clear signs of ethnic persecution, bordering on ethnic cleansing.
Empowering Genocidal militias and militirazing their alliance ,Tshisekedi and Ndayishimiye are undermining all regional peace efforts, violating international norms ,and inflaming ethnic divisions.
Rather than working toward long term stability ,their partership appears to priritize mutual political survival and regional influence at the expense of civilian lives and peace,as long as this alliance continuea unchecked ,the region remains trapped in cycles of violence and mistrust.
